Sewing Machine Basics
Learn How to operate an industrial sewing machine

This workshop is for the beginner or novice with moderate to no experience with an industrial sewing machine.

This 7 hour course is a technical workshop designed to educate you about industrial sewing machine operation with both instruction by demonstration and hands on experience. Several types of machines will be demonstrated and available for you to operate. Such as standard walking foot, double needle, long arm, cylinder bed.

You will learn to operate, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot a  sewing machine. For those with moderate experience you will leave here with a better understanding of  the sewing operation, adjustments, and greater confidence in your ability. Of course if you are a novice, you will not become an expert in one day but we will provide you with a solid knowledge base and the confidence to operate an industrial
sewing machine and
continue on your own.


Our Workshop has several different machines with a variety of motor and pulley setups.
The different types are discussed and you will get to use the equipment.
This will allow you to purchase the equipment best suited to your needs.
  Different attachments and sewing feet are discussed and practiced.
You will see whats available and how they are used.

Topics covered include:
- choosing the correct needle type and size for your projects.
- choosing the correct thread
- identifing causes that will impact stitch and seam quality  
- proper thread handling and how to balance a stitch correctly
- choosing the correct presser feet
- basic machine adjustments
- the correct way to sew a blind seam, french seam, and decorative              topstitching
-basic machine terminolgy
-proper maintenance to optimize sewing and seaming performance
- troubleshooting the common sewing problems such thread breaks,        skipping stitches, and you will receive a troubleshooting guide.

A beautiful stitching job can only be obtained with a well adjusted machine,
the correct needle and thread combination,
and an educated operator
