The AUTO TRIM BASICS WORKSHOP is a five day hands on training seminar held at our shop in Danbury, Connecticut. This is a basic auto trim course. This training is for the person that wants to acquire basic skills in the auto interior industry. You will not become an expert in 5 days but you will experience the correct methods used, and tools and equipment needed. The seminar will be adjusted to your skill level, but you should have basic knowledge and experience working with hand tools. You will benefit immensely from this training.
The Auto Trim Basics Workshop is typically held from Saturday through Wednesday from 8:30am to 4:30pm
Lunch, coffee and beverages are included as are all the materials you will use at the workshop.

Industrial Sewing Machine



The first day is dedicated to the sewing machine. Discussion of the various types of sewing machines
and motors available, what you need and what to avoid. How to choose the correct needle and thread combination, and adjust machine for optimum stitching. Demonstration and practice sewing various types of seams, pleats, top stitching, piping, and bindings.

Replacing upholstery with readymade seat covers and leather upgrade upholstery




Panel replacement and full recovery


Fabrication and upholstering of Door Panels, Kick Panels, etc



Discussion and Demonstration of:




Types of carpet available




Removal and installation of replacement molded carpet




Fabrication of cut and sew carpeting




Fabrication of floor mats




Carpet padding, insulation and sound deadening


Headliners and Sun Visors



Removal and installation of standard headliner boards



How to strip down the boards and reline them with the correct fabric and adhesives.



What are bow type headliners and how to handle them



Sun Visor disassembly and recovering



Discussion and Demonstration of the basic hand tools, power tools, machinery, and equipment to operate an auto interior business. From simple tools such as hog ring pliers, to foam cutters, adhesive sprayers, steamers, etc are demonstrated. Even work tables and storage racks are discussed.
